Emily,
How exciting to be a published author! What a wonderful dream come true. I had intended to come to the party given by your sister, but I ended up with out of town guests for dinner and the timing was not right for me to break away. Please let me know if you will do a book signing at Barnes and Noble so I can make another attempt. CONGRATUALATIONS! Ellen

Emily,

I couldn't find your e-mail address, so I thought I'd post here (Happy B-day, by the way!). I run a blog with three other YA authors at http://the5randoms.wordpress.com, and we interview authors/readers/etc. every Friday. I was wondering if you'd like to do an interview with us this week or next? Here are the five, easy-peasy questions:

1) What is your typical writing day like?

2) Why did you decide to write YA?

3) What is the biggest surprise you've experienced when it comes to book publishing?

4) Do you ever have any "dark days," when you wonder why you're a writer? What are those like, and how to you get through them?

5) Authors talk about "the call." Usually, it has to deal with getting an agent or getting published or getting an accolade. What was the best "call" you ever received in terms of your writing, and how did it go down?

Best,
Susan

I'm highly disappointed not to see "Royal Secret" listed as one of your favorite gifts. For shame! :)
